During the first Trump administration, the California Legislature declared California to be a “sanctuary state.” Stil, there are worries about the incoming Trump administration’s immigration enforcement policies. Omar Younis for Reuters reports that the Los Angeles City Council yesterday unanimously passed a “sanctuary city” ordinance that will prohibit the use of city resources and personnel to carry out federal immigration enforcement. “Council member Paul Krekorian said the measure addresses `the need to ensure that our immigrant community here in Los Angeles understands that we understand their fear.'”
