NY Times: “Biden Wanted to Fix Immigration, but Leaves Behind a System That Is Still Broken”
Michael D. Shear and Hamed Aleaziz for the New York Times evaluate the Biden administration’s legacy on immigration. With little help from Congress, Biden’s efforts to change the immigration system “were stymied by the need to confront a worldwide surge of displaced people fleeing their homes and a determined Republican opposition that seized on scenes of a chaotic border to block action and damage the president politically.”
In my estimation, future administrations will need to work with Congress on making immigration reform a reality. Of course, who is President will greatly influence those efforts.
