President-Elect Trump Wrongly Ties New Orleans Attack to Immigration
2025 began on a sobering note with New Orleans struck by terrorism and sadness. The suspect, who was killed, was a U.S. citizen born in Texas with a U.S. military record. Our condolences to the victims and their families. President-elect Donald Trump was quick to blame migrants for the tragedy.
Sean Craig on the Daily Beast writes that Trump “claimed he `was right about everything’ . . . after wrongly trying to link the New Orleans attack to migrants.”
“Our Country is a disaster, a laughing stock all over the World!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “This is what happens when you have OPEN BORDERS, with weak, ineffective, and virtually nonexistent leadership.”
In a follow-up post, he proclaimed in the third person: “TRUMP WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING.”
The Truth Social by the president-elect wrongly tried to tie “the truck attack on Bourbon Street—which was carried out by a Texas native and U.S. Army veteran, according to authorities—to migrants, who he has long targeted with hate-filled political rhetoric.”
