Another Purge of the Board of Immigration Appeals
Former Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) member Paul Wickham Schmidt reports on Immigration Courtside “that the following eight [Attorney General Merrick] Garland-appointed BIA Appellate Immigration Judges have been “reassigned” to staff positions: Geller, LeMelle, Kludt, Reilly, Brown, Nahas, Clark, and Borkowski. A ninth, unidentified AIJ was placed on “administrative leave.”
In streamlining the BIA, the George W. Bush administration similarly removed some BIA members and reduced the size of the Board.
