Executive Order: ENDING TAXPAYER SUBSIDIZATION OF OPEN BORDERS

On February 19, the President issued another immigration executive order (“ENDING TAXPAYER SUBSIDIZATION OF OPEN BORDERS“) that focuses on ensuring that undocumented immigrants receive no public benefits from state and local governments subsidized by federal monies.   It seeks to “ensure, consistent with applicable law, that Federal payments to States and localities do not, by design or effect, facilitate the subsidization or promotion of illegal immigration, or abet so-called `sanctuary’ policies that seek to shield illegal aliens from deportation . . . . “
