Justice Department fires 20 immigration judges
The immigration adjudication system is housed in the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR). The immigration court system and the Board of Immigration Appeals is part of the EOIR.
As reported here, the Trump administration has been restructuring the Board of Immigration Appeals. The Associated Press reports that the administration fired 20 immigration judges, a union official said yesterday.
On Friday, 13 judges who had yet to be sworn in and five assistant chief immigration judges were dismissed. Two other judges were fired under similar circumstances in the last week.
