Universities across the United States are responding to concerns about immigration enforcement on campuses. The University of California has responded. Soon after the Trump immigration executive orders, UC released the University of California Statement of Principles in Support of Undocumented Members of the UC Community. It assures immigrant students and staff of university support, emphasizes that the university will not participate in federal immigration enforcement, and declares the university’s commitment to protecting student privacy rights.
Members of the UC community are concerned about immigration enforcement actions. This website and FAQ provide information. UC students with immigration questions may contact the UC Immigrant Legal Services Center, which is housed at UC Davis School of Law. The Center was developed in 2014 under the leadership of then-UC President Janet Napolitano, former Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, to support and enhance the well-being of the university community and to advance equity and success in higher education through provision of free, high-quality immigration legal representation, outreach, and education.
