After living in the US for 35 years and raising 3 citizens, these parents got deported to Colombia. Their kids want them back

As immigration enforcement proceeds without ordinary due process, expect more stories like this CNN report.

Last month, an undocumented immigrant couple who had lived in the United States for 35 years checked in at an immigration court as they reportedly have been doing since 2000.  “The couple was arrested and handcuffed during their February 21 appointment and put in federal custody, where they spent three weeks before being deported to Colombia.”

“They did expect that they would need to depart and were planning to do so, but not in the way that it happened,” said Monica Crooms, an immigration attorney who represents the couple.  Crooms is one of my former students.
