Another Activist Slated for Removal

On March 15, Momoduo Taal and two others filed suit against the Trump administration seeking to enjoin enforcement of Executive Orders 14161 and 14188. Paragraph two of the complaint reads:

“The unprecedented and sweeping character of these Orders – coupled with the threat of imminent enforcement – has unconstitutionally silenced Plaintiffs and chilled protected expression, prohibiting them from speaking, hearing, or engaging with viewpoints critical of the U.S. government or the government of Israel, under threat of criminal prosecution or deportation.”

Yesterday, Taal sought a TRO “to enjoin Defendants Donald Trump, the Department of Homeland Security (“DHS”), and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem from attempting to detain, remove or otherwise enforce the two executive orders against Mr. Taal…” before a hearing on his underlying litigation set for March 25.

Today, Taal submitted an electronic filing to the court including the following:

The judge has responded by directing

…Defendants to respond to the Motion and Letter Brief in their brief due on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. In their brief, Defendants shall also address whether the portions of the Executive Orders challenged in the Complaint, Dkt. No. 1, are a basis for Mr. Taal’s anticipated “surrender to [U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement] custody” as stated in the March 21, 2025 electronic mail message from the Government to Plaintiffs’ counsel…
