Immigrants to the Rescue: Immigrant day laborers learn how to do risky fire cleanup

Fire-affected neighborhoods in Altadena and Pacific Palisades, California need help.  Some of the people taking the risky clean up jobs are immigrant day laborers.  As KCRW reports, this “workforce that can be vulnerable to exploitation, and with many stressed about President Donald Trump’s mass deportation plans. . . . [T]he National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) is using its operation at the Pasadena Community Job Center to teach the workers it supports how to stay safe. “

Immigrants also were affected by the fires.  NDLON has established a Immigrant Fire Relief Fund and is seeking to raise money for immigrant communities affected by the fires.
