Challenging Trump’s Alien Registration Rule
The American Immigration Council yesterday filed a lawsuit to protect immigrants nationwide against the Trump administration’s alien registration requirement.
Under the new requirement, millions of immigrants would be forced to register with the U.S. government and carry proof of registration.
The American Immigration Council claims that “[t]he requirement is vague, confusing, and infringes upon the Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination. And the regulation was issued without considering input from the public. So, along with our partners, we filed suit against the administration.”
