U.S. Revokes Student Visas, Visas of All South Sudan Passport Holders
There have been news reports of Trump administration revocations of student visas for protest activities. Students at Stanford and various University of California campuses have had visas revoked.
In addition, “Secretary of State Marco Rubio said . . . that the United States was revoking all visas held by South Sudanese passport holders, accusing the African nation’s government of `taking advantage of the United States.’”
I do not recall any program of visa revocations in the first Trump administration.
UPDATE (April 9): Reports of student visa revocations continue. For international students, a “climate of fear”, as one university administrator put it, has emerged, with concerns that visas might be revoked without notice.
Inside Higher Education has a map showing, as of April 8, the universities who report students whose visas were revoked. The map will be updated.
