NYT on Immigration Law & Pro Bono
Today’s New York Times features an article on Big Law Pro Bono related to immigration, “Some Giant Law Firms Shy Away From Pro Bono Immigration Cases.”
The article quotes Sirine Shebaya, the executive director of the National Immigration Project, who says: “It has gotten much harder to get law firms to take a case on pro bono.” She attributes this to Trump’s executive order or related settlements with the administration. At the same time, demand for legal services to challenge the administration’s immigration actions has increased dramatically.
