Umaña Muñoz v. Regents
Yesterday, the California Court of Appeals heard oral argument regarding the lawsuit brought by the Center for Immigration Law and Policy (CILP) at UCLA School of Law on behalf of Jeffry Umaña Muñoz and Iliana Perez. They have sued the Regents of the University of California (UC) alleging that UC is discriminating against students based on their immigration status by barring them from accessing on-campus employment and paid educational opportunities. The lawsuit centers on the UC’s (mis)interpretation of the Immigration Reform and Control Act.
Check out the entourage who showed up for oral argument. I spy a lot of O4A shirts. And check out immprof/litigator Ahilan Arulanantham in the back row!
