Urban Institute: Children of immigrants: National and state statistics
|
Lots of numbers from the Urban Institute here for the empiricists. “A growing number of children in the United States are born to immigrant parents. Understanding the characteristics of these children and their families is critical when considering policies that affect all children and families. This tool presents data and trends over time on children of immigrants and their parents, families, and households for states and the top 100 metropolitan areas. Data are available from 2006 onward, the first year that American Community Survey data were available for detailed geographies. While we do not display all years available, you can access older data through the Children of Immigrants Data Tool.” The data shows that 1 in 4 children in the US has one or more immigrant parents.
