National anthem in Spanish at Dodger Stadium ignites debate over Dodgers’ immigrant support
As the Associated Press reports, Latin pop and R&B singer Nezza’s performance of the national anthem in Spanish at Dodger Stadium has gone viral. “Dodgers fans have grown frustrated over the team’s lack of vocal support for local immigrant communities impacted by the rise of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrests and raids.”
Nezza’s “90-second rendition, and a behind-the-scenes video she shared on social media of team representatives discouraging it beforehand, quickly went viral . . . .”
I am not sure what the late Vin Scully, the long time voice of Dodger baseball, would have to say about all this.
