DHS defends defend immigration court arrests after being sued
Over the last few months, U.S. immigration officers have arrested noncitizens appearing at immigration hearings.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security reportedly is defending its policy of having Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers arrest people at their immigration court hearings after a class-action lawsuit was filed challenging the practice.
The lawsuit filed this week in federal court in the District of Columbia against the agency and ICE says the arrests of people at court violate immigration law and the U.S. Constitution.
