Board of Immigration Appeals Expands Mandatory Detention

Department of Justice Logo Executive Office for Immigration Review

News from the Board of Immigration Appeals.   The traditional rule had been that noncitizens in removal proceedings could be eligible for bond.   A decision yesterday by the Board of Immigration Appeals appears to change that and rules that detention is mandatory for anyone in removal proceedings who entered the without inspection.  See Matter of Jonathan Javier YAJURE HURTADO.

Click here for analysis from Politico.  We surely will hear more about this potentially far-reaching ruling.
