DespitethestaggeringgrowthandefficiencyofObama’sdetentionanddeponationmachine,detaineesremainjailedinobscurity,andarepopularlydescribedasnameless,faceless”illegals.”Theincreasingsizeofthedetentionregimegrowsbureaucracies,createsprofitsandrevenuesforsurrogatejailers,andlegitimizesthesecuritystate.Becausedetentiondrawssupponfrompoliticiansonbothsidesofaisle,it’s a productivetoolofenforcementthatiselastic,readytobere-tooled,rearticulated,andre-deployedfornewmigrantstreams.”
